I'm a member of Impact Canada: the Government of Canada's lead for innovation contests across its departments.
Previously, I was a member of Ready Lab at the University of Toronto's Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department. I completed my Ph.D. at The George Washington University, where I was supervised by Dr. Zoe Szajnfarber. My dissertation was awarded the graduate Cross-Disciplinary Research Award for 2022. During that time, I was also a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University's Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard.
Good ideas can come from (almost) anywhere. Open innovation approaches, like crowdsourcing and innovation challenges, have proven that statement time and again for consumer products. But how do you apply those approaches to complex engineering problems? How do Artificial Intelligence and automation factor into this process? My work addresses these issues in terms of what problem is being solved, and who is doing the solving.
